Andrea Wasson Stemle is a seasoned courtroom attorney with 30 years of legal experience. During her career, she has served as a prosecutor, public defender, collections attorney, and bankruptcy attorney, gaining a broad and balanced understanding of the law and the people it affects.
She is currently a deputy public defender, appearing in Clark County courtrooms on a daily basis and working directly within the judicial system she seeks to serve. This ongoing experience gives her a practical, firsthand understanding of courtroom procedure, judicial decision-making, and the responsibilities of the bench.
Through decades of practice and her current work as a public defender, she has developed a deep familiarity with the court for which she is running, as well as the legal professionals, procedures, and expectations that shape its daily work. She understands the importance of preparation, consistency, and respect for all parties who appear before the court.
Community Involvement
In addition to her legal work, Andrea is actively involved in the community. She is president of the board of Friends of the Ohio River Greenway, and is part of the Leadership Southern Indiana’s year-long Discovery program, which focuses on civic engagement and regional leadership. She is a former Volunteer of the Year for the Legal Aid Society, and she’s part of a team that serves meals each month at the Community Kitchen in Jeffersonville.
